Michael Lunsford
Founder & Principal

Michael Lunsford MS, CSP, CHMM, is the founder and principal of The Safety Solution™. Michael has over 35 years of experience in safety and emergency management as a firefighter/EMT, then a chemical plant safety manager, followed by several years as a HAZMAT and environmental leader for a Class I railroad, and finally serving as EH&S leader for a major Orlando, FL theme park complex. Michael has led response efforts to hundreds of oil and chemical spills, as well as fires, explosions and hurricanes. As a safety leader, Michael has developed and implemented safety audit protocols, trained managers, supervisors and employees in safety and implemented safety programs that reduced injuries. He has trained thousands of emergency responders in advanced rail emergency response and has spoken on the subject at industry conferences. Also, Michael has served as an expert witness, factual witness, and 30(b)(6) corporate witness, often in cases involving potential multi-million-dollar outcomes. Michael has a bachelor's degree in Fire Protection and Safety from Oklahoma State University and a Master of Science in Engineering Technology with an emphasis in Health and Safety from Middle Tennessee State University.
